Foreign Languages
The school focus is on teaching our students diverse forms of education, for example foreign languages, with the aim to encourage them to broaden their minds, travel and see the world, study abroad, as well as to increase their future prospects. An additional foreign language increases the overall volume of literatures and cultures which a child can communicate with, but also adds to their confidence. our unique style of teaching, where we couple textual knowledge with activity based pedagogy, opens the child’s mind to new cultures and improves his/her communication skills. At present we are teaching French at both the primary and secondary levels, as well as our online students. Our aim in the long term is to keep adding other languages such as Spanish and German, among others.
Creative Labs
In order to understand the concepts, the child has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. The knowledge that kids attain in classrooms would be ineffectual unless they actually observe the process and understand the relationship between action and reaction.
Saraswathi Vidyalai combines classroom teaching with laboratory experiments to ensure that their students grasp each and every concept thoroughly. The laboratory teaching and experiments that are being conducted help encourage deep understanding in children. Children even from grade 1 are involved in various laboratory activities to train them ‘learning by doing’. All the experiments are done in real time situations to give them an exposure of, what is actually happening in the real-time world. The Saraswathi Vidyalai School has all the necessary labs – Computer, Physics, Chemistry, Arts and Fashion, Cookery, Carpentry, Mechanics, Electrical and Electronics, with which the child not only acquires academic excellence but also can exercise anything out of his imagination.
Digital Classrooms
Saraswathi Vidyalai is approaching a three-way model for teaching.
- Theoretical
- Digital
- Experimental
Children are oriented towards multimedia classes. Teaching is given using multimedia aids and most of the classrooms are designed to deliver the lectures digitally. The benefit of multimedia learning is that it takes advantage of the brain’s ability to make connections between verbal and visual representations of content, leading to a deeper understanding, which in turn supports the transfer of learning to other situations. In a multimedia learning environment, students can identify and solve problems more easily compared to the scenario where teaching is made possible only by textbooks. It is always easier if you teach the kids digitally and practically, how something happens rather than explaining the process to them.
Nutritious Lunch
“We are what we eat.”
This could not be truer in our adolescence. Healthy food is not just an option but a compulsion for our kids.
We take great care in menu planning the menu and do so a month in advance so that all the healthy ingredients are sourced on time and absolutely fresh. We use this opportunity to fill our kids’ bellies with nourishing, delicious, and inspiring food – day after day. Age-appropriate delicious menu ensures kids stay excited about their food. Special healthy-yet-fun meals are planned for Saturdays to ensure kids don’t feel that we are restricting them for any type of food.
Fresh greens are used from the school campus. Other healthy ingredients include half-polished rice, sesame seed oil and organically grown vegetables at school, among many more. One extra special ingredient -love – is added to everything that we offer our kids and this one-of-a-kind opportunity lets us show our ‘love’ to our kids.
“A well-fed kid is a happy kid”
Eco-friendly Campus
In between the green fields and pollution-free meadows, the school creates a homely environment among children. The school is accessible to all transportations. Our eco-friendly school generates cost savings in the form of reduced water and energy usage. The standard for environmentally-friendly schools is LEED, a framework for building our school to meet certain benchmarks for sustainability, and a certification that more and more schools are seeking to achieve as they upgrade existing facilities and expand their campuses.
